In the busy world that we live in today there is so much going on to distract us from the reality of life that it is not surprising that we are seeing obesity levels rising in nearly every developed country on the planet. Today, instead of focusing on the bare essentials that we need to survive in life it is so easy to take short cuts and half do a job, if we do it at all.
It is much easier with the busy lives that we lead to get home from a hard day at the office and put a ready cooked meal in the oven or in the microwave, wait three minutes and then have our evening meal on our knees in front of the television. This is where most people will stay and vegetate until it is time for bed.
For many of us we need to get back to the basics of living life again and understand exactly what we need to do to keep our body and mind in some sort of half way house between healthy and existing.
Motivation is a major key to achieving this. It is understandable that perhaps you may not want to do anything after a long day at work but surely after a long dreary day at work a little exercise will pep you up a little and put a spring back into your step. It is a known fact that those of us who are motivated enough to do something after work will transfer that motivational effort into other aspects of our lives. How many successful businessmen and women do you read about that are not motivated and who cannot be bothered to do anything after a long day at work? I’m not saying for one minute that by being motivated to get your life into shape will make you a super successful business person but it may well lead to a few more opportunities presenting themselves to you. Employers like motivated people.
If you are struggling to cross that line and find it difficult to keep that motivation going why not buddy up with a friend or a colleague and join the gym together? You can decide together what it is that you both want to achieve from the gym and explain to each other your reasons for being there, and if you need them to encourage you and motivate you then ask them to do so. If you do not have anyone who you can team up with for the gym then why not employ the services of a personal trainer?
Personal trainers are there to help you achieve your goals, not to push you until you reach their goals. You are their boss and you set the agenda and the targets, a good personal trainer will get you to where you want to be and help you stay focused and motivated when you achieve the results that you want. Without you to motivate and work with the personal trainer would not have a job. Good personal trainers should sit down with you after each session and review your progress so far and point out where you need to be to achieve your next goal.
So in reality the only motivation you need is to pick up the phone and find the number of your local gym and then get yourself a personal trainer and leave the rest to the people who get paid to motivate.
