If you have Strawberry Allergy then you suffer from allergies Type 1 what is also called Contact Allergies. One or more of the thousands of proteins found in strawberries causes the allergic reaction to strawberry. Why does the immune system consider some proteins harmful to the body is unknown and more studies are needed.

Scientist at the Lund University of Sweden has identified a protein that is believed to cause the majority of allergic reactions to strawberry. This protein is very similar to the allergy causing protein found in birch pollen. Individuals that are allergic to birch pollen can have a cross allergy reaction to some berries, fruits and to some vegetables.

Researchers have found that the protein that caused the allergic reaction is Not found in the white strawberry. This protein seems to be related somehow to the red coloration of the red strawberry. Several growers are currently trying to develop a genetic variety of allergy free strawberries for commercial use.

During an allergy attack the immune system products antibody (IgE) in response to the proteins found in food. The antibodies in turn cause the cells of the human body to product histamine and other chemicals, which cause the allergic symptoms. The immune system can release histamines anywhere in the patent's body.

Which part of the body the histamines are released in determines the type of allergic reaction that you will have. If the histamines are release in the skin then localized swelling, itching or hives occur. If the histamines are release in the stomach then nausea and cramps can occur. If the release of the histamines occurs in the lungs then bronchial spasms, wheezing and difficulty breathing can be the result. If the histamine is released into the blood stream then anaphylactic shock and even death may occur.

Currently there is no cure for strawberry allergy and avoidance is the only solution to the problem. No mater what type of allergy you are suffering from their is a good chance that you can find relief from allergy symptoms. Common Vitamins and over the counter products can help with Allergy symptoms such as Vitamin A, Vitamin B, Vitamin C, Beta Carotene, Vitamin E.

Vitamin A is a known antioxidant and can assist the human body in the healing process. Vitamin A is stored in the liver and fat cells of the human body and can reach toxic levels. DO NOT take more than the recommended dosage of Vitamin A.

Up to one-third of older people can no longer absorb Vitamin B from their food. Vitamin B is needed to form red blood cells and keep nerves healthy.

Vitamin C is nature's protective nutrient, essential for defending the body against pollution and infection and enhances the bodies immune system.

Beta Carotene protects the mucus membranes of the mouth, nose, throat and lungs. It also helps protect Vitamin C from oxidation, which enables it to perform at optimum efficiency.

Vitamin E protects the lung tissue from inhaled pollutants and aids in the functioning of the immune system.

If you are Allergic To Strawberry then find a good health care professional prior to starting any type of home treatment.
